City offices

City offices are located at 460 Third Street, right beneath the water tower. Postal address is City of Dassel, PO Box 391, Dassel, MN 55325.

To reach city hall by phone, call (320) 275-2454; hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

The city hall contains the city clerk’s office, public library, and community room (call to reserve).

The city clerk’s office provides a constant flow of services to the citizens and visitors of Dassel, as well as building permits, utility services, and a wide range of information.

The police department was disbanded December 2006. The city contracts with Meeker County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services.

The head of the public works department is Dave Scepaniak. Other full-time public works employees are Richard Berg, Walter Hanson, and Jay Evjen.

Office staff includes Billing and Permit Clerk Barbara Weege, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Sherrie Bjork, and Administrator Clerk/Treasurer Myles McGrath.

The council meets the first and third Mondays of the month in the city council chambers in the city offices of Dassel.

Winter parking

Dassel has an ordinance which regulates the parking of vehicles during the winter months. There is no parking on city streets from 2 to 6 a.m., Nov. 15 through April 15.

Snowmobile ordinance

The City of Dassel snowmobile ordinance limits snowmobiles to one trip out of town, and one trip into town only. No snowmobiling is allowed in the city from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Pet ordinance

Licenses are required for all dogs. The license fee for spayed or neutered dogs is $10. The regular license fee is $25. Dogs must be leashed or under the control of a responsible person. Dogs running at large will be picked up. The fee for a licensed dog pick-up is $25. The fee for an unlicensed dog pick-up is $50. The second pick-up fee is $50. The dog will be impounded for the third and subsequent pick-ups, and the owner will be charged for the actual cost of impoundment.
