City offices
City offices are located at 460 Third Street, on the corner of Third St. and Parker Ave. (Highway 12). Postal address is City of Dassel, PO Box 391, Dassel, MN 55325.

To reach city hall by phone, call 320-275-2454; hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
The city clerk’s office, library, and community room (call to reserve) are all conveniently located in city hall.
The city clerk’s office provides information to the citizens and visitors, issues building permits, and oversees utility services.

City Council
Mayor Ron Hungerford, 320-275-2454. Council members: James Hallquist, Nicole Carlen, Bob Lalone, and Tom Weseloh. Regular council meetings are at 7 p.m. the third Monday of the month at city hall, and special meetings are scheduled at times as needed to carry out the business of the city.

City staff includes: Terri Boese, clerk/treasurer; Carolyn Holje, museum director, Dave Johnson, fire chief; and Marvin Vetsch, liquor store manager.

Planning and Zoning
The planning and zoning commission meets as needed on matters dealing with signage and land use regulatory controls.
Law enforcement
The City of Dassel contracts with the Meeker County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services. Contact the department at 320-693-5400, or in case of emergency, dial 911.

Winter parking
Dassel has an ordinance which regulates the parking of vehicles during the winter months. There is no parking on city streets during and up to 48 hours after a snow event.

Snowmobile ordinance
The City of Dassel snowmobile ordinance limits snowmobiles to one trip out of town, and one trip into town only. No snowmobiling is allowed in the city from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Pet ordinance
Stop in at city hall to get your dog license. The license fee for spayed or neutered dogs is $5. The regular license fee is $10. Licenses must be renewed annually and expire Dec. 31. Dogs must be leashed or under the control of a responsible person. Dogs running at large will be picked up. The fee for an unlicensed dog pick-up is $100.

Utilities
Water and sewer services are provided by the City of Dassel. Bills are sent out by the 10th of each month and are due by the last day of the current month. Water services may be turned off for non-payment.
Before you sell your property, an inspection of the sanitary sewer connections must be completed, and a certificate of compliance issued by the city. If a line needs to be replaced, it is the owner’s responsibility to pay for the repairs from the city main to the home. Contact the clerk’s office for more information, 320-275-2454.
Cable: Cable television is available to all residents through Spectrum. If you would like to connect to cable television or have any problems with cable television, call 888-406-7063. Channel 189 is the local public access channel in Dassel.

Garbage pickup
The City of Dassel contracts with Waste Management for residential garbage and recycling pickup. Residents should have their cans curbside by 7 a.m. every Monday, except holidays, when garbage pickup falls on Tuesday. Recycling is every other week. Post office
The post office is located at 501 Second Street. Window hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Closed Sunday and holidays. The post office’s phone number is 320-275-2753.

Food shelf
The Dassel Area Food Shelf, located at 531 Atlantic Avenue West, is open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and is operated by the Meeker County. Emergency Food Shelf. For information, call 320-275-0124.
